On 3 August 2018, Minister for Jobs and Innovation, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, announced seven industry-led projects were being funded under the first round of AustCyber Project Fund.
The recipients and funding amounts are:
WithYouWithMe will receive $150,000 to identify, train and add 75 new students into the Australian cyber security industry.
Applicant funding: $150,000
Fifth Domain will receive more than $547,000 to produce a learning management system in partnership with the Canberra Institute of Technology, the Australian National University, and Nova Systems that enables education organisations, students and employers to collaborate in developing the cyber security workforce of the future.

Deception.ai will receive $180,000 to complete an export commercialisation of its cyber security product and document this in a playbook to assist other Australian startups seeking to sell their products overseas.

Cybermerc will receive $550,000 to build a next-generation Intrusion Detection System with La Trobe University, Optus and deception.ai that will significantly reduce the time to expose sophisticated cyber actors inside networks.

The University of Sydney will receive nearly $612,000 to deliver, with Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ), Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), National Australia Bank Limited (NAB), Westpac Banking Corporation and British Telecom, Cyber Security Challenges for High School students that develop cyber security skills and attitudes, and increase careers awareness.

QuadIQ will receive $300,000 to build an intelligent IT system that reduces the time required to complete security vetting of people working in high-trust environments such as banking, finance, government and law enforcement.

Vault Systems will receive $448,000 to build, with Quintessence Labs, the world’s first secure (homomorphic and Quantum key management) and scalable package for enterprise file synchronisation and sharing systems.
