Mentor matching business OK RDY is thrilled to launch the OK RDY Cyber Edition Program designed for students and graduates to learn more about the industry from leading cyber professionals, SMEs, enterprises, associations and government leaders in Canberra.
The program launch will kick off on 15 August 2019 at the Canberra Innovation Network, showcasing a panel of cyber security professionals including:
- Jennifer Firbank - Industry and External Engagement Senior Lead – Cyber Security at Telstra.
- Matthew Wilson – CEO & co-founder Penten.
- Lynn Moore – Assistant Director-General Culture, Learning and Development at the Australian Signals Directorate.
As part of the wider Cyber Edition Program, there will be a series of networking and thought leadership events being held from August to November 2019. This includes cyber panel discussions, visits to cyber offices, fireside chats and mentorship matching opportunities.
OK RDY CO-Founder Tim McKay believes the Cyber Edition Program will connect cyber talent with industry and government, as well as showcase insights into the broader cyber security economic opportunity Australia can capture.
Mr McKay said, “We’ve designed a program in partnership with AustCyber’s Canberra Cyber Security Innovation Node that will help to demystify cyber careers, showcase industry role models and connect Australia's emerging talent to professionals and organisations leading the way in the sector.
“Participants be able to use OK RDY’s mentorship matching app to connect with cyber professionals, grow their network and gain career insights throughout the program. The program will also showcase and explore the variety of roles available in the cyber ecosystem.”
AustCyber’s CEO Michelle Price said, “AustCyber is proud to partner with Australian startup OK RDY to help launch the inaugural Cyber Edition Program. The program’s format will foster greater depth of understanding by students and graduates of the breadth and depth of cyber job roles. This will invariably contribute to improved job readiness and workforce diversity at a time when we are seeing a global skills shortage in the cyber security sector.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the program being rolled out and I encourage all employers to participate. This can be as simple as attending a program event or meeting with a student to share insights and experiences in the dynamic environment of cyber security.”
The OK RDY Cyber Edition Program is open to students currently studying cyber security or for people who have an interest in learning more about the industry. This is also an opportunity for employers and cyber professionals to engage with eager cyber talent.
