About the Node

In June 2020 it was announced that three Cyber Security Innovation Nodes would be established in Brisbane, Townsville and the Sunshine Coast in a partnership between AustCyber, Queensland Government and the Townsville and Sunshine Coast councils. These Nodes will accelerate the growth of the QLD’s cyber security sector in alignment with AustCyber’s national mission. The three QLD Nodes are part of AustCyber’s National Network of Nodes, which fosters and accelerates cyber capability development, innovation and commercialisation across Australia.

The QLD Node works closely with QLD Government, industry, academic and research institutions in QLD. The QLD Node will be guided by an Industry Advisory Group (IAG). The IAG is responsible for promoting the QLD cyber security industry, providing advice and direction to the QLD Node on the implementation of the Node’s work plan.

For the QLD Node, QLD Government’s partnership with AustCyber is an important step in the advancement of the cyber security industry in QLD. The Node will help to strengthen QLD’s position in the booming cyber security sector, drive economic growth, innovations and commercialisations across a range of sectors which will create new jobs and enhance global competitiveness. It will showcase the local cyber skills, while strengthening collaboration between Queensland’s private, public and academic sectors, particularly in the priority areas of defence and the supply chain, advanced manufacturing, health, education and agritech sectors.
